We have permanent use of our clubroom at 20 Lagland Street, so the layouts never get packed away. We think it is the best clubroom in Dorset.
Club nights every Tuesday and ThursdayFrom 7.30pm
In the middle of the room: two OO loops, a TT loop, and an inner loop for N and OO9, each with a passing loop, plus three sidings for N. The OO and N loops switch between DC and DCC. Any member can use it to run in a new locomotive or check their stock.
Tap a loop to start or stop its train.

Three big layouts being built
Members are building three large permanent layouts in the clubroom: two OO and one N.

N-Trak
Modules built to the American N-Trak standard, so they join up with modules from other clubs. Two main lines and a branch run through every module; the branch serves the yards and industries for shunting.

Sterte Bay
An imaginary station just west of Poole, set between 1955 and 1965 and being rebuilt by our OO gauge group. More about Sterte Bay

Hawthorn Dene
The Durham coast between 1957 and 1965, as steam gave way to diesel, built by Les Richardson and shown at exhibitions around the country from 2014. The society bought it in June 2026 to keep it running, on club nights and at our shows.

The children's layout and Glen McHoo Halt
Two more of the society's own layouts, both coming to the 70th anniversary show.
Sterte Bay is an imaginary station just west of Poole, named after the real Holes Bay, Poole town centre and Sterte Road nearby. It is set between 1955 and 1965, though as a club layout it welcomes trains from any period.
Part of the track plan comes from the old Poole station, its goods yards and the storage sidings nearby. A main line runs through the station and partly disappears under the station bridge, and there is a platform for diesel multiple units. The real station was close to the busy quayside, so a line bypasses the station on its way to the harbour. Warehouses, sidings and a factory make whatever your imagination likes. Even widgets.
The track is mainly code 75, run on Digitrax DCC. Storage yards at the back let us make up new trains, and a two-way main line through the yard lets trains run continuously. Our OO gauge group is rebuilding the boards and adding details and small scenes, and there is lots more to do. If you are interested, roll up your sleeves and come and join us.
