Malingford (2mm scale / N gauge)

Mallingford (2mm scale / N gauge) Built By Kevin Mitchell
Mallingford is inspired by the Ealing Studios film ‘The Titfield Thunderbolt’ and the old GWR Camerton branch line in Somerset which provided many of the film locations. In reality the line closed in 1958 but on Mallingford passenger and goods trains continue to run from Limpley Stoke although the railway has become rather overgrown and neglected. A siding leads to the nearby colliery but before the railway came along coal was transported by the Somerset Coal Canal, and a derelict canal lock can still be seen. The layout has featured in Model Rail magazine and includes models of the Bedford OB bus and Aveling & Porter steam roller that appeared in the film. All rolling stock and buildings have been weathered and detailed and particular attention has been paid to the scenery to make it as realistic as possible.
